Bury have sacked manager Chris Casper following the team's slide down the League Two table.
Casper's fears realised
Bury have sacked manager Chris Casper following the team's slide down the League Two table.
The Shakers are without a win in nine games in all competitions and have slipped to 19th in the standings after a 3-0 defeat at Darlington on Saturday.
Casper, who took on the job in September 2005, had expressed concerns for his position at Gigg Lane after the weekend's loss.
He has now been sacked, along with director of football Keith Alexander, with Bury keen to act before the situation worsens.
Difficult time
A club statement read: "The board of directors at Bury FC have today terminated the contracts of Chris Casper and Keith Alexander with immediate effect.
"This decision has come at a difficult time for the club, but it was felt that the decision had to be taken earlier, rather than later.
"Unfortunately the management team of Chris Casper and Keith Alexander has lost the confidence of a large majority of the fans, and the directors have taken this decision for the benefit of Bury FC.
"The board of directors would like to thank Chris Casper and Keith Alexander for their efforts in taking the club forward."
