Morecambe winger Garry Thompson is expecting to sign a new deal after interest from Bradford.

Thompson happy to stay following Bradford offer

Morecambe winger Garry Thompson is expecting to sign a new contract following interest from Bradford City. A £10,000 bid from Bradford was rejected by Morecambe last week, with Sammy McIlroy telling skysports.com the offer was 'a joke'. Thompson, who scored against Bradford in League Two in October, is now ready to commit his future to the Shrimps. "The first I knew about it was after the event and it is flattering when people make bids for you," Thompson told The Citizen in regard to Bradford's bid.

Focus on football

"I don't know if it was intended to unsettle me, but I just want to concentrate on my football. "I am due to have talks with Morecambe about a new contract and hopefully things will be sorted out here. "I have never said that I want to leave Morecambe and I hope to put pen-to-paper. "I have been here a long time and the club is very close to my heart."
