Midfielder returns from career-threatening knee injury

Jimmy Bullard has admitted that he thought he may never return from his horrific kneecap injury. The midfielder came on as a second-half substitute during the 2-1 defeat away at West Ham on Saturday, only his fifth appearance for the club since joining from Wigan at the start of the 2006/07 season. The game marked the end of a 15-month spell on the sidelines for Bullard after he injured his knee against Newcastle in September 2006. The injury proved to be worse than first feared and ended up requiring two operations to resolve the problem. With Fulham currently struggling second from bottom in the Premier League, the Cottagers will be glad to have Bullard's energy back in the side whilst the player himself is just happy to be involved again.

Keep strong

"At the start I definitely felt I would never come back," he told The Sun. "Those thoughts went through my head. "But you have got to be strong. When I was told I was in the squad at West Ham I was like a kid on Christmas Eve. I was so excited."
