Hicks not looking to sell

Tom Hicks is not looking to sell his stake in Liverpool after claims he is willing to part with his stake to DIC.

Reds co-owner remains committed to club

Tom Hicks is not looking to sell his stake in Liverpool, according to a spokesman, following reports the American is seeking a way out. Reports have claimed that Hicks is considering an offer from the Dubai International Capital group, who tried to buy the Premier League giants 12 months ago. On that occasion, Hicks and fellow American businessman George Gillett won the race to take over the club, but DIC have resurrected their interest. There are suggestions that Hicks and Gillett are trying to refinance their deal, providing DIC with an opportunity to launch a takeover. But a spokesman for Hicks has confirmed that there are no plans to part with any stake and that the reports are 'untrue'.

Fully committed

"Mr Hicks and Mr Gillett remain fully committed to the club," the spokesman told PA Sport. "Any suggestion that Messrs Hicks and Gillett are contemplating a sale of the club or any portion thereof to DIC or anyone else is categorically untrue." Earlier this week, Hicks revealed that he and Gillett held talks with Jurgen Klinsmann in November as a back-up option, if Rafa Benitez left his post as manager. It sparked fresh rumours about Benitez's future at Anfield, but it appears neither the Spaniard nor the owners are on the brink of leaving.
