Bolton chief accepts they'll be bit-part players on Saturday

Gary Megson has warned Bolton's players that they have already been cast as the pantomime horse ahead of Saturday's trip to Newcastle. Kevin Keegan's sensational return to St James' Park has occupied the back pages since his appointment on Wednesday, with all eyes on the messiah's second coming. Bolton are the visitors for Keegan's second spell in charge of the club he served with distinction as a player, but barely has a word been uttered about Megson's side. Aware that Bolton have been reduced to the sidelines amidst the excitement and expectancy in the North East, Megson remains hopeful that they can arrive at the front door and sneak through the back with a three-point haul. "We will be the pantomime horses," conceded Megson. "Kevin Keegan and his players will be the main cast and we just have to get on with it."

On the up

Megson believes Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has made an astute appointment in Keegan and he is confident the club will head in only one direction from here on in. "I think that within 18 months, Newcastle will make the big four a big five. "He has an owner with a lot of money and a great deal of ambition. "I'm positive Kevin will have been made promises in terms of what he has got to spend. "Kevin will be fully aware that there's a great deal of expectation around him. "It will not all be sweetness and light, but he has an aura that will help him deal with it."
