Striker hungry for playing time ahead of Euro 2008

Milan Baros' agent has explained the reasons behind his client's decision to swap Lyon for Portsmouth. The former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker is to return to the Premier League on loan after a less than successful sojourn in France, having grown exasperated with a lack of football at Stade Gerland. Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is confident he has pulled off a noticeable coup, aware that his squad is desperately short of firepower due to a number of his players' involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations, and an injury sustained by David Nugent at the weekend. And the move should benefit Baros too, with the Czech Republic international needing playing time between now and the campaign's close if he is to shine at Euro 2008. "In England he knows perfectly the scene, the atmosphere and the style of football. He will need no time for adapting, he can play straight away," agent Pavel Paska told ismfootball. "Milan passed a medical today and signed the contract. On Monday morning he will have his first Portsmouth training session and on Wednesday he can make his debut against Manchester United."
