Nottingham Forest have made a seven-figure bid for Dundee United captain Barry Robson.

League One promotion hopefuls bid for midfielder

Nottingham Forest have tabled a seven-figure bid for Dundee United captain Barry Robson. The League One promotion hopefuls are desperate for a return to the Championship and are clearly willing to arm Colin Calderwood with significant funds. Robson is thought to have previously attracted the attention of the Old Firm but it is expected the 29-year-old will be allowed to discuss a move south on Wednesday.

Reluctant sale

United chairman Eddie Thompson conceded Robson could soon be on the move, despite the SPL club's desire to keep him in Scotland. "We have a seven-figure bid in for Barry from Notts Forest. "The manager Craig Levein and I both have copies of the offer and will get together in the morning to go through it. We both want Barry to stay. "We will do everything in our power to keep him, but sometimes these things are taken out of your hands." Robson has had an outstanding season with United, scoring 12 goals from midfield including seven in his last five games.
