United winger says title race will come down to bottle
Ryan Giggs feels that the Premier League crown will be captured by the side who cope best under pressure.
With Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all still harbouring realistic ambitions of taking the title, Giggs insists that the race will come down to which side has the most bottle.
The United winger should not be found wanting in that department having already picked up nine championship medals during a glittering Old Trafford career.
With the top three all still competing on numerous fronts, Giggs also believes that strength in depth could play a vital role over the next few months as the games begin to mount up before the silverware is handed out.
Hold nerve
"In the end, the team who holds their nerve the best wins the title," he said in the Daily Star.
"It also comes down to the team who can best handle the amount of games they have to play.
"Around the end of the season, there are so many games.
"The team that can cope best with all of those competitions and use their squad best will be the one that comes out on top.
"We know that the teams in contention are more than capable of going on a 10 or 11-game unbeaten run.
"The team who can do that, particularly at this stage with games running out, will have the a great chance of winning the title."
Define season
Having overcome Spurs in the FA Cup at the weekend, United now face a tough game at home to Portsmouth on Wednesday before traveling to White Hart Lane on Saturday for a vital Premier League clash.
Midfielder Michael Carrick is well aware that the results United are able to pick up in these three games could prove to be pivotal in shaping the club's season.
"Weeks like this can define a season," he said.
"If we can get the three wins we're aiming for, then we'll be in good shape."
