Burnley boss has had no bid from Ibrox

Burnley boss Owen Coyle has denied reports that Rangers have joined the race to sign striker Kyle Lafferty. The Northern Ireland international has already been linked with Old Firm rivals Celtic, with the Turf Moor outfit rejecting a bid of over £3million. There had been speculation that Walter Smith was planning a move for Lafferty after missing out on Georgios Samaras, who has joined Celtic on loan for the remainder of the season from Manchester City.

No bid

But Coyle said: "We have had no bid whatsoever from Rangers for Kyle." Despite landing Samaras and having one bid turned down, Celtic have not ended their interest in the young forward. Assistant manager Tommy Burns said: "I would think that if we can't get Kyle Lafferty now, we might try to get him in the summer or whenever the opportunity comes."
