Inverness manager Craig Brewster admits that contract negotiations at the club have been hampered by the signing of Marius Niculae.
The Scottish Premier League club broke the bank to capture the Romanian international striker last summer and the Inverness boss accepts that the transfer is influencing current contract discussions.
Inverness are attempting to re-sign Ross Tokely, Dennis Wyness and Russell Duncan to long-term deals and Brewster confesses that funds are limited following Niculae's arrival.
"In reality, the chairman picks up most of Marius' salary so the club contribution is very much within the bounds of the rest of the squad," Brewster told the
Daily Record.
"But I don't know if the distinction is one the players would make. At the end of the day everyone wants the best deal possible.
Final stages
"I would hope we are in the final stages of contract negotiations with the three lads (Tokely, Wyness and Duncan) in question. I've always said every one of these guys is important.
"But I feel that sometimes when players are playing for new deals they can perform even better.
"All three are lads who have been at the club for a good number of years and are part of the club's stability and part of the reason we've done so well.
"You'd like to give them everything but I think they are realistic and we are realistic in knowing what we can offer.
"This club has very much been one where everyone has been on a similar level within the wage structure.
"Suddenly with Marius coming in last year the trend was broken but there's still parity among the rest of the players."
