Man United defender hails impact of team-mate

Gary Neville claims his Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player he has ever seen. Ronaldo has starred for United this season and currently tops the Premier League's scoring charts along with Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor on 19 goals. And Ronaldo has also sparkled for the Red Devils in the cup competitions to hand him an overall total of 27 goals for the season and leave him only five short of George Best's United goalscorring record for a winger in the 1967/68 campaign. United skipper Neville has hailed Ronaldo's performances and has also highlighted the 23-year-old's contribution to the team. "In terms of entertainment, performance and production, the player that we're watching now is every bit as good as anything I've ever seen," Neville told United Review.

Another planet

"He's playing on another planet at the moment. His goals tally is exceptional, but the most impressive thing is the appreciation he has for playing in a team. "His passing, dribbling and crossing are all carefully selected and completed at the right times." Neville has been confined to the sidelines for the past 11 months with a succession of injuries, but the defender remains excited as United continue to pursue glory in the league, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League. "I said at the start of the campaign that United fans should be as excited as they've ever been and that's been proved," Neville added. "We've had the odd blip, but you experience that every year. We're getting to the business part of the season now, there's everything to play for."
