Roma defeat means Real must overhaul one-goal deficit
Real Madrid winger Arjen Robben is confident the Spanish champions will overhaul their 2-1 deficit against Roma and progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Roma came from behind in the first leg to claim their first-ever home win over Real and the La Liga leaders must bounce back in the Bernabeu if they are to reach the last eight for the first time in four years.
Captain Raul claimed an away goal with an eighth-minute opener and although Real dominated for long periods with fit-again Robben in impressive form, they failed to make their possession pay.
David Pizarro claimed a 24th-minute equaliser before Mancini put Roma in front in the 58th minute and the Italians held on for a slender advantage.
Disappointed
"With a bit more sharpness and a bit more luck I think we could have won the game here so we're a bit disappointed with the result," said Robben.
"It's always important to score an away goal. We tried to keep it up and I think we had some good chances to get a second as well.
"I think if you get that second the game can be over, but they came back into it and in the second half they scored another.
"We made it a little bit difficult for ourselves because I think we had enough opportunities to score a second and a third as well.
"But the tie is not over and we're very confident for the next match at home."
Torment
Robben has suffered an injury-hit spell at Real since moving to the Spanish giants from Chelsea last summer and was making only his third appearance after returning from a thigh injury.
The 24-year-old Holland international tormented the Roma defence with a series of probing runs and teasing crosses, and insists Real are yet to see his best.
"It was the first big match for myself after coming back from injury," he said. "I've played two full games now in the league so this is my third consecutive game.
"At the moment I'm fit again and I feel good. When I'm fit, this is what I can do. I can still do better but I was very happy with my performance."
