PSV took a 2-0 lead into the second leg of their last 32 tie and they made no mistakes in Sweden.
After a goalless first-half Mike Zonneveld put PSV ahead when he fired home from the edge of the box.
The lead was doubled on 67 minutes when Danko Lazovic fired home after good work from Otman Bakkal.
Helsingborg battled hard throughout and they grabbed the goal their pressure deserved with nine minutes left.
Leandro Castan fired home to give his side some consolation - although that was all it was.
