Norwich v Barnsley preview

Can the Tykes repeat their Anfield heroics against the Canaries?

Barnsley will be hoping to transfer their FA Cup form into their league campaign when they travel to Norwich on Saturday. The Canaries have been in fine form recently though, the 4-0 thumping away at Leicester on Saturday being their first defeat in 14 Championship encounters. Barnsley's victory over Liverpool in the cup glossed over the fact that the Tykes have won just two of their last 12 in the league to slip out of the play-off picture. They have also won just once away from Oakwell and have slumped to defeat in 10 of their 16 away games.

Suspended trio

Norwich boss Glenn Roeder will be forced to cope without a trio of first-team players through suspension for the Carrow Road clash. Midfielder Darel Russell was sent off in the defeat by Leicester and begins a three-match ban, while captain Mark Fotheringham and striker Dion Dublin will both miss out after accumulating five bookings apiece this season. Jamie Cureton should start in attack after his brief substitute appearance last week triggered no ill effects from his appendix surgery while Matthew Pattison returns to midfield. It is unclear who will partner Pattison in midfield, but the likes of Rossi Jarvis and Michael Spillane are both in contention for a recall. Defender Ryan Bertrand is also back in the squad after missing the Leicester defeat through illness, but Adam Drury (knee) and Luke Chadwick (shoulder) remain long-term absentees. New signing Juan Velasco is also fit enough to make his debut if required.
Davey dilemma
Barnsley manager Simon Davey must decide whether to recall all his cup-tied players after the heroics at Anfield. Striker Jon Macken, defender Lewin Nyatanga and goalkeeper Tony Warner are all available for the trip to Carrow Road after missing the cup upset. Stand-in goalkeeper Luke Steele pulled off several decisive saves to keep Liverpool at bay in that game and could keep his place, while Bobby Hassell and Kayode Odejayi also put in influential displays against illustrious opponents. Defender Rob Kozluk has shaken off the knock that forced him off at Anfield and returned to training this week, so Davey must also choose between him and Marciano Van Homoet at full-back.
