Barca boss loses key player in European win on home soil
Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard has bemoaned the hamstring injury suffered by Lionel Messi against Celtic.
The Argentina international was causing Celtic no end of problems at Camp Nou before a burst of speed past Massimo Donati saw him pull up sharply.
Although Barca were virtually through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League courtesy of Xavi's early goal, Rijkaard believes the team was affected by Messi's injury.
Tears
The talented forward was virtually in tears at being escorted from the field by his team-mates and the Barca boss is hoping Messi will not be on the sidelines for too long.
"It's very sad for the player and for the team. He's a very important player," said Rijkaard.
"This injury has affected us all. Let's hope he can recover quickly.
"It's a sad moment but tomorrow we've got the medical tests and we hope it isn't as bad as it seems."
