Hector Cuper has been officially unveiled as the new manager of Serie A strugglers Parma. Former boss Domenico Di Carlo was dismissed on Monday with the club languishing in 17th place, with only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone. Argentine coach Cuper has previous experience of management in Italy having enjoyed brief spells with Internazionale and Real Betis. He has been charged with the task of keeping Parma in the top-flight, with the possibility of then signing a new long-term contract in the summer.

"I know we are facing a difficult situation, but I am sure that we can ensure survival. "I am grateful to president Tommaso Ghirardi for giving me this opportunity with a really big side."
