Swiss international set to join Hannover
Karlsruhe captain Mario Eggimann has agreed to join Bundesliga rivals Hannover in the summer.
The Swiss international defender has penned a five-year deal at the AWD Arena and will cost around one million euros (approximately £765,000).
The news comes as a further blow to European-hopefuls Karlsruhe who have already seen Thomas Hajnal agree to join Borussia Dortmund, while Andreas Gorlitz, Massimillian Porcello and Christian Eichler continue to attract attention from a host of other German clubs.
Convincing
Hannover though are delighted to have got their man and see Eggimann's arrival as another important step in their rebuilding process.
"It was important for us to convince him of our concept and we are pleased we have managed to do that," said the club's sporting director Christan Hochstatter.
"We want to build something long-term here in Hannover with Mario."
