Striker needed to boost promotion push

Bristol City have recalled Steve Brooker from the striker's loan spell at Cheltenham Town. Brooker was due to stay at Whaddon Road until 12th April after extending his stint into a third, and final, month last week. He had scored five goals in 14 appearances during his time with Cheltenham, but has been summoned back to Ashton Gate to boost City's bid for promotion to the Premier League. "Steve has done fantastically well for us, so it's not really a surprise that City want him back," Cheltenham boss Keith Downing told the club's official website. "We're disappointed obviously, but thoroughly understand the decision. "It's been a move that has benefited everyone because we have had Steve's contribution to our play and his goals. City now have a fully fit player able to go back into their squad. "I would like to thank both Steve and Bristol City for their support in making it happen."
