Swedish defender happy to keep clean sheet

Erik Edman is upbeat regarding Wigan Athletic's prospects of staying in the Premier League. The Swedish full-back is yet to feature on the losing side in four appearances for Wigan since joining the club from Rennes in January. He played 90 minutes on Sunday as the Latics beat Bolton 1-0 at home to move six points above their relegation rivals in the table. And Edman, who aims to play in Sweden's friendly against Brazil later this month, feels it was a vital victory for Wigan.

Fun

"It was fantastically good that we managed to keep a clean sheet," Edman told Sportbladet. "There are still eight matches remaining, but the victory is really important. "First, I had to recover from the injury and then the most important thing is to save Wigan, but it will be fun to play against Brazil. "It's due to my defensive qualities that they brought me here."
