Players set to return for both sides

Tranmere Rovers hope to welcome back Ian Goodison, while Adam Eckersley is in contention for Port Vale. Veteran defender Goodison has missed Tranmere's last two games with a knee injury, but is back in full training. Chris Shuker returned from nearly three months out with a knee injury against Hartlepool last week and could start again. Craig Curran has shaken off a spot of flu, while Steve Davies remains the only confirmed absentee for Tranmere, who will move back into the play-off spots with a point.

Port Vale news

Vale will climb off the bottom of League One with victory at Prenton Park and hope to include Eckersley in the squad. Eckersley has been sidelined for over a month with an ankle problem, but featured for the reserves in midweek. However, Vale boss Lee Sinnott is still without Shane Tudor (knee), Colin Miles (medial ligament) and Keith Lowe (bruised knee bone).
