Norwegian to take charge at Abe Lenstra
Heerenveen have confirmed the appointment of Trond Sollied as their new coach.
The 48-year-old Norwegian is currently with Belgian side Gent, but he has now agreed a two-year deal to take charge at the Abe Lenstra this summer.
Sollied will succeed current coach Gertjan Verbeek and will bring in his own assistant, Chris van Pyvelde.
"Sollied is an experienced international coach who has proved at several clubs that his approach works. Results are important, as is playing style, and like Heerenveen, Sollied is in favour of attacking, dominating football," said Heerenveen general manager Yme Kuiper.
Koeman link
With Sollied's departure confirmed, Gent are now in need of a new boss and former Feyenoord coach Erwin Koeman is being strongly linked.
"I was called by two journalists, but I haven't been approached yet by the club," Koeman told De Telegraaf.
"I am flattered by the interest and I am certainly open for Gent. It is a stable club. They want to build a new stadium and are currently doing well."
Meanwhile, with Sollied's move confirmed - it has not taken long for some of his current Gent players to be linked with a move to join him at Heerenveen.
The main link is with Costa Rican star Bryan Ruiz - but Gent are not in any hurry to let the highly-rated Central American leave.
"For an artist like Ruiz, people will come to the stadium," said Gent chairman Ivan de Witte in Het Nieuwsblad.
"But we will do everything to keep him here."
