Gillingham manager Mark Stimson is deciding whether to sign Coventry City forward Donovan Simmonds on loan.
Simmonds has yet to make a first-team appearance for Coventry since joining the club from Charlton Athletic last summer.
He is spending two days' training with League One strugglers Gillingham as Stimson looks to add to his squad before Thursday's loan deadline.
"We'll be trying to improve the squad," said Stimson.
"We need goals to keep us up, so if somebody I am interested in becomes available, then we'll take them.
"Donovan Simmonds will train with us on Wednesday and Thursday, so we have to make a decision on Thursday."
