Gretna have confirmed nine players from their first-team squad have been made redundant.
Redundancies confirmed by administrators
Gretna have confirmed nine players from their first-team squad have been made redundant by the club's administrators, Wilson Field.
They have also parted company with 13 of their youth squad and six community coaches as the club look at cutting costs at every level.
The senior players to leave are David Bingham, Mark Birch, Mickael Buscher, Aurelien Collin, Chris Innes, Henry Makinwa, David Mathieson, Erik Paartalu and Michael Tait.
A Gretna statement read: "Gretna Football Club can reluctantly confirm that redundancies have been made.
"Due to the financial circumstances of the football club we are no longer in a position to continue with the youth programme and community activities and have had to make several cutbacks accordingly.
"We regret that we have had to take this action but feel we need to dedicate all our resources into the first team unless there is a change in circumstances.
"We would like to thank everyone for their services and wish them every success in the future."
Pressure
The pressure is now on the players to try and find a new club before the transfer deadline for free transfers in Britain closes. The deadline in England is Thursday, whilst in Scotland they have until March 31st.
Midfielder Erik Paartalu - one of those released - admitted he was now left to look for a new employer and he revealed that all the players are hoping to get additional time from Fifa.
"I really feel for the boys who have got families to look after and mortgages to pay. It's really disappointing," he told
Sky Sports News.
"The transfer window for free agents closes on March 31 in Scotland so it's a bit of a rush now for everyone to try to find a club and get sorted for next season.
"We're all trying to get dispensation from Fifa."
The youth players who have parted company with the club are Mario Campagna, Jake Cunningham, Liam Cusack, Grant Easton, Nicholas Faulds, Conor Grant, Joseph Hughes, Callum McKinlay, Christopher Moffet, Jack Pattison, Alex Redfern, Ryan O'Hara and Daniel Smee.
