Juande Ramos has expressed his concern at Tottenham's apparent lack of motivation in lesser fixtures.
It has been an up and down season for Spurs with the Carling Cup success a major highlight, although they are well down the Premier League ladder in 11th place.
Hopes had been high of a three-point haul against struggling Newcastle on Sunday, but a inept second half display saw The Magpies run out comfortable 4-1 winners.
Ramos is at a loss why his troops fail to get themselves up against the league's strugglers and is keen to investigate the problem further.
"This is definitely something for me to look at and take into account when we are looking at the squad," stated Ramos.
"In the important games or when we are playing in games where there is something to play for the players play will maximum intensity and concentration.
"But when the games are of a lower profile they don't seem to have the same high level of motivation. This is something we have to analyse."
