Shields and Pires sign on
Leyton Orient have handed rookie midfielders Solomon Shields and Loick Pires their first professional contracts.
The 18-year-old duo have put pen to paper on one-year deals as they attempt to make the step-up to the first-team squad at Brisbane Road.
Shields, a central midfielder, already has one senior appearance under his belt as a substitute against Huddersfield on the final day of last season.
Left-winger Pires has yet to make his first-team debut but is a regular for the reserves.
"It's the first rung on the ladder of their professional careers and I'm sure they can be successful," said Os boss Martin Ling.
