Mauro Zarate has reiterated his desire to remain at Birmingham
Skysports.com revealed earlier this week that there was a number of clubs chasing the Argentine.
Zarate, currently on loan at St Andrews from Qatarian side Al-Sadd, has excelled in recent weeks with three goals including a memorable brace against Manchester City last week.
His future now appears to be up-in-the-air, but Zarate has always insisted that Birmingham are his preference.
"I would like to stay with Birmingham that is the idea and if I get the opportunity to sign a contract I will take it," Zarate told
Sky Sports News.
"Birmingham were the first club to show a genuine interest in me and for that I always be grateful, there has been interest form other English clubs and Spain and Italy, but my only interest is in Birmingham."
Tevez
Zarate revealed that his close friend Carlos Tevez helped him in his early days.
"I speak to Carlos Tevez all the time and I went to Manchester to see him, he advised me to stay calm about being on the bench and told me to be patient and that I would get my chance," he added.
