United centre-back out for two to three weeks
Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is expected to be out for two to three weeks with a knee injury.
Vidic suffered the blow to his left knee during United's 2-0 victory over Roma in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Serbian landed awkwardly after heading the ball back to Edwin van der Sar and was replaced by John O'Shea just past the half-hour mark.
He left Stadio Olimpico on crutches and there had been fears that Vidic could miss the rest of the season with the injury.
But a second scan on Thursday morning has shown that there is not a serious problem with the centre-half's knee.
United expect Vidic to miss Sunday's Premier League game with Middlesbrough and the return leg against Roma next Wednesday.
He has also been ruled out of the showdown with title rivals Arsenal at Old Trafford on 13th April, but could be back the following week against Blackburn Rovers.
The league leaders are optimistic Vidic will be fit for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, if they get through, and the 26th April trip to second-placed Chelsea.
