Pompey defender focused on FA Cup semi-final

Sol Campbell has played down speculation linking him with a move away from Portsmouth. The veteran defender, who moved to Fratton Park in August 2006, has reportedly attracted the interest of Spanish side Villarreal. Campbell is unsure whether there is any truth in the rumours but admits he is powerless to stop the transfer talk in the media. He is staying focused on Portsmouth and the upcoming FA Cup semi-final against West Brom. "There are always players linked with different teams," said the former Arsenal man. "I don't know where the information comes from sometimes. I'm a professional. "I've always strived to do the best for my team and if people are interested I can't do anything about that.

Interest

"We are in a semi-final and it is fantastic. It is a massive cup and we have a great opportunity to win it. "Any cup or league is a massive lift for everyone and if it gives the chance to test yourself against European opposition, that also keeps the interest alive." Portsmouth are the only Premier League side left in the FA Cup after a season of surprises, but Campbell insists West Brom will not be underestimated. He said: "You never stop loving being in big games and winning them. I'm no different to any other top player who has the ambition and desire to keep on pushing himself." "West Brom are involved, and we just have to make sure we have more desire than them."
Fantastic
Campbell would also like to see manager Harry Redknapp win a major honour, adding: "Harry, for me, is fantastic. "He wants to win and play football, that's the main thing. He has bought well - proper players - and got people relaxed and playing well. "You can see that with Jermain (Defoe), who is playing fantastically. He has come to a different club and kicked on. "There was talk of Harry going to (manage) England, and I think that is fair enough, really. "A lot of people understand that he has got different ways, but he gets results. He gets players playing. It's good."
