Cobblers take up option on Hungarian defender

Northampton Town have extended Gabor Gyepes' contract at Sixfields until the end of next season. Gyepes, who has made 10 appearances for Northampton since joining the club in February, was on a deal until the summer. Having impressed for the League One side, Gyepes has now seen a one-year option taking up by Cobblers manager Stuart Gray. "I know that Gabor is enjoying his time here," Gray told the club's official website.

Calming influence

"He has done well since coming in. His fitness is building all the time and with a good pre-season behind him in the summer he can improve even further. "Gabor brings a calming influence with his play and he has good experience for someone of his age, which is helpful for the younger players around him. "I know he remains very ambitious to play at the highest level possible and to regain his place in the Hungarian national team. Hopefully he can achieve both aims with Northampton Town. "He is a quality player and a very good addition to next season's squad. I am delighted that he will be staying with us."
