Former Brazil striker Romario has officially announced his retirement. The 42-year-old forward has decided to bring to an end a 23-year career, in which he claims to have scored 1000 goals. Romario - who won the 1994 World Cup - has announced his retirement on several previous occasions, only to then change his mind. But the former PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona star insists that this time he will not go back on his word. "My time is over," said Romario, who ended his career at Brazilian club Vasco da Gama. "Officially, I might play a farewell game with the jersey of the national team."
