Steve Bruce insists that he has no plans to make drastic changes at Wigan over the summer.
Victory at home to Reading on Saturday would secure the Latics' Premier League status for another season and allow them to launch a rebuilding program during the close season.
However, having already brought in Erik Edman, Marlon King and Wilson Palacios during the January transfer window, Bruce is keen to build on the foundations he already has in place.
"The good thing is that if we can win on Saturday, I can go and speak to the chairman and say where we're looking to strengthen," he said.
"We have one or two targets and the agents are already on the phone so there will be a few acquisitions, I'm absolutely convinced of that.
"But there won't be any major shake-up because I've been absolutely delighted with the standard of the squad I've got.
"We're in the top 10 in the Premier League in terms of form over the 20 games since I came here and I've seen very good things.
"There are some young players who are very, very talented and if we can add one or two then we can keep making strides."
Expectations
One player likely to be on his way into the JJB Stadium is Marcus Bent as Wigan have already agreed a fee with Charlton to make the striker's loan move permanent.
While the club are likely to retain the services of their top scorer, African duo Julius Aghahowa and Salomon Olembe look set to be shown the door, with Turkish side Kayserispor seemingly their most likely destination.
"We sat down with Marcus at Christmas and there were negotiations to make the deal permanent if all things were equal," said Bruce.
"One thing was that we were still in the Premier League and we're edging towards that.
"We'll sit down again with Marcus' representatives and we have done some things with people on the fringe, like Aghahowa and Olembe.
"It hasn't gone well for Aghahowa in particular because he came here with a lot of expectations, and unfortunately for one reason or another, it hasn't quite happened for him.
"We wish them all the best and hope that they go and thrive in Turkey."
Understudy
Another player who may be allowed to leave over the summer is Carlo Nash.
The keeper is currently on loan at Stoke and has made it clear that he wants to move in order to find regular first-team football.
"I haven't spoken to (Stoke manager) Tony Pulis but I'm sure he'll be concentrating on the two games they have got left," said Bruce.
"If he wants to make it permanent, there could be a deal between the two clubs, but it's a while off yet and I'm sure discussions will take place.
"I understand Carlo wants to play, I don't think he wants to be an understudy, and if that's the case and the deal is right, we will not stand in his way."
