New Huddersfield boss in confident mood
New Huddersfield manager Stan Ternent is confident that he can take the club into the Championship.
The Terriers announced on Thursday that Ternent had been appointed as Andy Ritchie's successor on a three-year deal.
Ternent will be assisted by former Gillingham manager Ronnie Jepson and he believes the two of them can push the club on to a higher level.
"I hope I'm here for a while," Ternent told
Sky Sports News.
"I want to take the club forward and up into the Championship."
Derby backing
Ternent had been working as Paul Jewell's number two at Derby and he is happy The Rams did not oppose his decision to move to Huddersfield.
Ternent, who has had spells in charge of five different clubs, is also optimistic that Derby will come back stronger from their disastrous season in the Premier League.
Asked if he was happy to drop down two divisions, Ternent replied: "I prefer to manage.
"Paul Jewell, who is my friend, and Adam Pearson, the chairman, have been absolutely marvellous about it and they have let me come out with no compensation.
"Derby will move on. It is a fantastic football club. They have a good manager and chairman and they will recover."
