Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has quashed speculation linking midfielder Ferrie Bodde with a move away from the Liberty Stadium.
No move for Dutchman
Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has dismissed speculation linking highly-rated midfielder Ferrie Bodde with a move away from the club.
The 25-year-old has impressed hugely for The Swans in his debut season, following his move from Den Haag in the summer.
Martinez admits Bodde is good enough to playing at a higher level and he hopes the Championship will be the perfect platform for him after Swansea claimed the League One title.
"You see Ferrie on the pitch and I think you can draw your own conclusions from the way he performs there," Martinez told the Evening Post.
"Ferrie has adapted to the British game really well and he is enjoying his football.
"I think he needs another challenge next season - but he will get that with us.
"I don't think another season in League One would have been healthy for Ferrie. He needs the challenge of the Championship and he is looking forward to it.
"He is the kind of player who will always attract rumours.
"I look at Ferrie in training and on the pitch and he transmits great happiness.
"He is a winner and a great professional and Swansea City can be very happy with his feelings."
No way
Meanwhile, Martinez admits he has not heard from Yeovil about their interest in signing former midfielder Darren Way - who enjoyed a loan spell back at Yuish Park earlier this season.
"We have had no formal approach from Yeovil or anyone else and at the moment we're just looking at finishing the season," Martinez said.
"I'm not surprised if they are interested because Darren has a huge reputation in League One. He set the standards when he went back to Yeovil on loan.
"But these are just rumours. They are the kind you get when you are on top of the table."
