Rangers striker revels in win over Fiorentina
Nacho Novo is convinced that Rangers have the character to cope with the gruelling schedule that faces them over the coming weeks.
The Scottish Premier League season will be extended by four days after Rangers beat Fiorentina on penalties to clinch their place in the Uefa Cup final.
Rangers are chasing an historic quadruple as they have already won the CIS Insurance Cup this season and remain in the hunt for the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Cup.
However, they must now play eight games in 21 days, including two cup finals, and Novo admits it will be difficult.
The striker nevertheless believes that Rangers have the mental strength to continue to pursue four trophies.
Novo, who scored the winning spot-kick, told
Rangers TV: "We're not happy about all these games. This is something that is really nice for Scottish football, having a Scottish team in a European final.
"There are too many games but we have a big heart and mentality and we will get on with it."
History
Rangers have not had such success in Europe since they won the Cup Winners' Cup in 1972 and Novo is delighted with the club's run.
"It would be nice to make history," he added. "This is such a big club and we haven't won a (European) trophy for all these years. All the boys will try to make it.
"We have had big results already and it's another 90 minutes so there is nothing to be scared about.
"Barry (Ferguson) has been saying that we look like a team, there is great team spirit and everyone works for each other.
"Before, that feeling wasn't there and the changing room was dying. Now everybody is happy."
Novo is keeping his focus on the SPL clash with Hibernian this weekend, explaining: "The next game on Sunday will be a huge game for us and it will be tough but, if all the boys stick together again, we will take the three points."
