Energie Cottbus have signed Montenegro international defender Savo Pavicevic. The 27-year-old FK Vojvodina Novi Sad player put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at the Friendship Stadion on Tuesday after the clubs agreed terms on what is reportedly a fee of €300,000. "We have made a lot of effort to sign Savo Pavicevic because we are certain that his style of play suits our system," Cottbus general manager Steffen Heidrich told the club's official website. "We have watched him several times and are convinced that he will make his mark in the Bundesliga." Pavicevic also expressed his delight at the move, telling Kicker: "Cottbus and the Bundesliga mean a great chance for me. I hope that I can repay Energie for the trust they have put in me." Energie Cottbus have also used their option on Dimitar Rangelov to keep him at the Friendship Stadium. The Bulgarian has enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Bundesliga and Cottbus have now paid French outfit Racing Strassbourg €600,000 to secure his services for the coming three years. "Dimitar Rangelov showed his great potential especially in the first half of last season," Heidrich said. "If he can now build on this good start, then I'm sure he will give us a lot of pleasure in the future." Meanwhile, Cottbus have announced that striker Michal Papadopulos will return to Bayer Leverkusen after his loan period and that French midfielder Christian Bassila will be leaving the club.
