Former Mainz boss replaces Doll
Borussia Dortmund have appointed Jurgen Klopp as the successor to Thomas Doll as the club's coach.
The 40-year-old, who left Mainz last week after a total of 18 years as player and trainer at the Bruchweg Stadion, has agreed a two-year deal at Dortmund, with an option for a further year.
Klopp, who has also made a name for himself as a TV pundit, will also bring his assistant Zeljko Buvac with him from Mainz.
"Jurgen Klopp's enthusiasm for football suits BVB perfectly. He is someone who loves constructive, attacking football," Dortmund's sport director Michael Zorc said at a press conference on Friday.
"He has proven in the past that he can develop a team."
Great honour
Klopp also expressed his delight at his new position, saying: "It is a great honour to coach BVB and help the club get back to where it belongs.
"That is something that I'm really looking forward to."
Dortmund qualified for the Uefa Cup by reaching the DFB Cup final last season, but finished the Bundesliga in 13th place - their worst showing for 20 years.
