Macclesfield v Cheltenham preview
Monday 20 August 2018 14:46, UK
Peter Vincenti is primed to make his Macclesfield debut in Tuesday's League Two clash with Cheltenham.
The winger has been with the club for just under two weeks following his deadline-day move from Coventry but is still waiting for his Silkmen bow.
Midfielder Elliott Durrell remains a doubt due to a groin issue, while Goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara is pushing for a start after making the switch from Manchester United. Boss Mark Yates believes Macclesfield are close to clicking, despite still chasing their first win in the league this term.
Cheltenham manager Gary Johnson is continuing to scour the loan market for additions to his ailing forward line. Midfielder Ben Tozer came off the bench as a makeshift striker in Saturday's 1-0 home loss to Carlisle, but is unlikely to reprise that role at Moss Rose.
Alex Addai should again lead the line for the Robins, while defender Chris Hussey returns from suspension. Liam McAlinden continues to work his way back to fitness, after struggling with a knock.
Opta stats
Macclesfield have only won five of their 18 meetings with Cheltenham in the Football League (D4 L9).
Cheltenham were on a six-match unbeaten run over Macclesfield between December 2003 and December 2005, and have won three of the last six, including the two most recent matches.
Back in the fourth tier for the first time since 2011/12, Macclesfield have lost their opening three matches. They have now failed to win in 26 games in this division (D7 L19), with their last win coming against Port Vale on New Years' eve back in 2011.
Cheltenham have also lost their opening three matches, as well as their final four games of last season; the seven-game losing run is their longest without a point since February 2009 when they also lost seven consecutive games.
Gary Johnson is winless in six matches against Macclesfield in League Two (D1 L5), but will be facing them for the first time as Cheltenham boss.
