Stockport manager Jim Gannon is wary of his star players leaving the club even if they win Monday's play-off game with Rochdale.
Gannon is confident of overcoming the Dale and reaching League One, with his long-term sights set on the Championship, but he is keen to keep hold of his star players.
Anthony Elding, Ashley Williams and Ryan Crowther have all left Edgeley Park this season and there are others that are catching the eye of bigger clubs.
Midfielder Tommy Rowe has pledged his allegiance to County insisting he wants to remain at the club for at least another two seasons despite interest from Premier League sides Arsenal and Tottenham.
Ambition
But Gannon, who enjoyed a successful playing career with County, concedes he cannot stand in the way of his players if they wish to leave.
"Of course it's a concern that other clubs will come in for players," said Gannon.
"As you build a team you want to keep it together for as long as possible and if we could keep them together we could be in for a fantastic journey.
"But I also understand the nature of football as a business and the players' ambitions for themselves.
"Our policy has always been that if we get a reasonable offer for a player then we will leave the decision in the player's hands."
