Real skipper not prepared to announce international retirement
Raul has vowed to always be available for his country, despite missing out on Euro 2008.
The Real Madrid captain was widely tipped to make the cut for the upcoming European Championships, but has failed to force his way into Luis Aragones' plans.
The legendary striker last represented his country back in September 2006, but 18 goals in Real's title-winning 2007/08 campaign was expected to be enough to see him return to the fold.
Raul admits that he is disappointed to have been overlooked once again, but will do all he can to ensure that he earns a recall in the future.
Honour
"It's an honour to play for Spain and if I get called up again I'll be there," Raul told
Marca.
"I haven't turned my back on the national team and I would never do it.
"I'd been hoping to be on the list, but in the end it wasn't possible.
"Now I have to play the role of supporter and the team will have my backing from the first to the last minute."
Tight
Raul, who is Spain's all-time leading goalscorer, also expects his countryman to face tough competition for international glory in Austria and Switzerland this summer.
"It's going to be tight with the fight between the usual favourites: Portugal, Italy, France, Germany and Spain," he suggested.
Spain are in Group D with Russia, Greece and Sweden and get their campaign under way against Guus Hiddink's men on 10th June.
