Defender joins Brighton from Coventry
Brighton have completed the signing of defender Colin Hawkins from Coventry.
The 30-year-old passed a medical at the Withdean Stadium earlier this week and has now tied up a two-year-deal with the League One club.
He arrives on a free transfer to become Micky Adams' first signing since returning to Brighton for a second stint as boss.
Hawkins played under Adams at Coventry but then fell down the pecking order once Chris Coleman took charge at the Ricoh Arena.
He was not offered a new deal by Coleman at the end of the season and was linked with a number of clubs in England and Scotland.
Adams won the race for his signature and is delighted to have secured his services until 2010.
"He is a leader on the pitch," Adams told
Southern Counties Radio.
"The influence he will have, particularly on our youngsters, will be invaluable."
