Axed boss unhappy with Serie A side
Roberto Mancini has hit out at Internazionale after being axed by the Serie A outfit.
Mancini's expected exit from the Guiseppe Meazza was finally confirmed on Thursday shortly after he led the club to a third successive domestic title.
Jose Mourinho is now expected to be installed in the Inter hot-seat, with Mancini among the leading candidates for the vacancy at Chelsea.
In a statement made by Inter to confirm Mancini's exit, the club suggested that one reason for his departure were comments made in the wake of their UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Liverpool.
Following their last-16 reverse at the hands of the Anfield outfit, Mancini announced he would be stepping down at the end of the season, only to reverse his decision 24 hours later.
Mancini's lawyer Stefano Gagliardi claimed it was too late for the club to use this as a reason for sacking his client.
False
Inter's statement also mentioned "events that emerged recently in the news".
Gagliardi said this was a reference to wiretaps published in the press from a drugs probe involving a person known to Mancini and some players, even though there was never any suggestion anyone at Inter had done anything wrong.
Mancini said in a statement: "I have given my lawyer the job of protecting my image, (while) condemning the behaviour of the employer club in that it tried to exploit false, illicit stories."
Gagliardi told the ANSA news agency: "We abide by the national contract for coaches which says that a club has 10 days from an alleged breach to take action, while any event referred to in the statement happened months ago.
"Mancini is angry and disappointed because he feels injured as a person and troubled; he and his family feel affected by this affair."
