Capdevila nets last-gasp winner for Aragones' men

Joan Capdevila struck an injury-time winner as Spain secured a 2-1 friendly win at home to Peru. Full-back Capdevila pounced in the dying moments of the game after David Villa's opener had been cancelled out by Hernan Rengifo. Spain carved out chances before taking the lead on 37 minutes through Villa's clinical finish following a superb pass from Barcelona midfielder Xavi. But Peru produced a spirited display after the break and levelled on 73 minutes when Rengifo headed home after poor defending from Carlos Marchena. In the second half, Spain coach Aragones brought on Ruben de la Red, Santi Cazorla and Sergio Garcia for their international debuts. With the game petering out to a draw, Capdevila smashed home a stunning volley to earn Spain a confidence-boosting win. Aragones' team continue their preparations for Euro 2008 with another friendly on Wednesday against the USA, who lost 2-0 to England earlier in the week. Spain start their European Championship campaign against Russia on 10th June before meeting Sweden and holders Greece in Group D.
