Striker hopeful Holland defeat will build experience

Wales striker Craig Bellamy is hopeful his side's friendly defeat to Holland will provide vital experience in preparation for the 2010 World Cup. The Dutch cruised to victory in their final warm-up game ahead of Euro 2008 as goals from Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder secured a 2-0 win at De Kuip stadium. And, following Wales' failure to qualify for this summer's European finals in Austria and Switzerland, Bellamy is hopeful his younger team-mates will have learned from the defeat. Wales begin their World Cup qualifying campaign against Azerbaijan in September and Bellamy, 28, is optimistic the inexperienced Dragons will be able to book a place in South Africa in two years' time.

Big target

"I'm a massive fan of Dutch football and the way they keep the ball," Bellamy told Sky Sports News. "They are patient and play the way football should be played. A lot of the young players will have learnt a lot. "This is a big step and a big target to aim for, but this is what some of our young players have really got to try and become. "We have got one or two good players coming through and this is a massive learning curve for players. "It is still a learning curve for me, so it was a good afternoon and in the next couple of years this could be a really important afternoon for us."
