Winger hoping Portugal will lift trophy

Nani has told skysports.com that he expects Portugal to mount a strong challenge at Euro 2008. The 21-year-old moved to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon last summer and played a key role in Manchester United's title-winning Premier League campaign. He is now looking to complete his season by helping Portugal to triumph on the international stage, and he admits there is a sense of confidence around the squad. "This season is magic to me," Nani told sksyports.com. "The success of Manchester United was incredible and now my challenge is an excellent Euro with Portugal. "We are calm but in the squad I notice a special atmosphere and we are able to do anything." Cristiano Ronaldo has been in stunning form for United since the last World Cup and Nani believes his team-mate can inspire Portugal to victory in Austria and Switzerland. "Cristiano Ronaldo is a decisive man for us and I am totally convinced that he will be the king in this Euro. "He does not really play in the same position as at Manchester United but if he stays in the same rhythm we can go very far."

Desire

Nani faces fierce competition for a place on the wing with Ricardo Quaresma, Simao Sabrosa and Ronaldo also in the Portugal squad, but he is hoping to make a contribution. "This is my debut with Portugal in a big competition and my desire is to play a lot of minutes," he said. "I never want to speak about favourites and I only desire that Portugal will be contesting the final. "If we won the title for me it would be a madness in my best year as a professional. "Not even in a dream could I have imagined such success."
