Foxes sifting through short list

Leicester could start interviewing candidates for the managerial vacancy at the end of the week.

Talks could start in the coming days for new manager

Leicester City could start interviewing candidates for the managerial vacancy at the end of the week. Relegation to League One cost Ian Holloway his job at the end of the season and chairman Milan Mandaric is looking to appoint another new boss. Mandaric told Sky Sports News over the weekend that he is trying to prune his current short list down to five names. Foxes chief executive Paul Aldridge says that task is continuing, but is hopeful that the club can take a step forward in their search for Holloway's replacement in the coming days. "We have had numerous people put CVs in or get people to talk to us and say they would like to be considered," Aldridge told the Leicester Mercury. "It's going through this and getting it down to a short list. At that stage we will really start to talk to people. We haven't whittled it down yet. "We are at about 22 to 25, a number of which we won't be considering further. We hope to have a short list by the end of the week." Meanwhile, Leicester's young keeper Carl Pentney has signed a new one-year contract at the Walkers Stadium. Pentney has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Foxes and spent spells on loan at York City, Ilkeston Town and Fisher last season.
