Star defender given the green light to face France
Romania defender Dorin Goian has been declared fit for the start of Euro 2008.
The 27-year-old Steaua Bucharest centre-back has been given the all-clear to face France on Monday after recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.
Goian sustained the injury in training last week, but he will be available for manager Victor Piturca as he attempts to plot a route out of Group C.
After kicking off against France, Romania have the less than enviable task of taking on world champions Italy and Holland in this year's 'Group of Death'.
Goian, who has made 19 appearances for Romania and has scored three goals in that time, is considered a vital part of Piturca's defensive plans.
