Gill insists Ronaldo will stay at Old Trafford

Chief executive David Gill has reiterated Manchester United's stance in the Cristiano Ronaldo saga. The Portuguese winger has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and there continues to be speculation about where the 23-year-old sees his future. Real's interest in Ronaldo has cooled since United threatened to report the Spanish side to Fifa. United are adamant that they do not want to sell and Gill has once again stressed that Ronaldo will remain at Old Trafford. "Our position is clear. Sir Alex (Ferguson) and I stated it in the last week," said Gill as he announced United are to play Portsmouth in a dress rehearsal for the Community Shield in Nigeria in July. "That's it. That's all we are going to say on the matter, full stop." Gill confirmed that Ronaldo will not be travelling to South Africa for the Vodacom Challenge tournament or Nigeria for the friendly with Pompey, but only because he will be on holiday after Euro 2008.
