Trio declared fit for Germany clash
Poland coach Leo Beenhakker has received a triple boost with the news that Jakub Blaszczykowski, Michal Zewlakow and Wojciech Lobodzinski will all be fit for the clash with Germany on Sunday.
Key midfielder Blaszczykowski has been sidelined for the last two weeks with a hamstring injury but trained on Wednesday and Bennhakker is happy to have him available sooner than expected.
"We are delighted to have him back and his presence will be a major boost against Germany," Beenhakker told reporters.
"We thought he would only be available for the final group match against Croatia and this is really good news."
Defender Zewlakow and midfielder Lobodzinski have also shaken off ankle knocks, meaning Beenhakker will have a full squad at his disposal this weekend.
The experienced Dutch coach is hoping Poland will end a 15-match sequence without a win against Germany dating back to 1933.
Beenhakker is not ready to make any bold predictions about his side's chances at Euro 2008 but feels they should be looking to progress from a group that also includes Croatia and co-hosts Austria.
"We are aware of this record and we are reasonably confident we can finally beat Germany," said Beenhakker.
"A win would really put wind in our sails although it's too early to tell how far we can go in the tournament."
