Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that the club has made a bid for Blackpool's Kaspars Gorkss.

Blackpool receive bid for in-demand defender

Queens Park Rangers have confirmed that the club has made a bid for Blackpool defender Kaspars Gorkss. The fee is undisclosed, but is believed to match the player's buy-out clause in his contract of £250,000. Watford are also rumoured to be keen on signing Gorkss, however QPR's offer remains the only confirmed bid. The 26-year-old Latvia international signed for Blackpool from Ventspils in January 2007, and made 40 appearances last term.

Exciting players

Meanwhile, QPR director Amit Bhatia is sure the club - backed by the financial muscle of co-owners Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore - will secure a number of exciting signings over the summer. "We are continuing discussions with a number of very exciting players," Bhatia told QPR's official website. "Hopefully before the start of the season we will announce the arrival of some new faces and everyone will be happy. "QPR now have the ability to attract players who, in the past, would not have been as interested in coming to the club, and that's great."
