Ipswich have completed the signing of Pim Balkestein for an undisclosed fee from Heerenveen.
The 21-year-old spent a brief period on loan with the Tractor Boys at the end of last season and impressed sufficiently to earn a permanent deal.
He has penned a two-year contract at Portman Road and arrives in the wake of a glowing reference from manager Jim Magilton.

"He wasn't fazed by mixing it up with the first-team players when he came over for a trial with us.
"He is a confident lad who is aggressive in his play and has a cultured left foot.
